Enlisted 1 July 1916 in Rarotonga. Disembarked from SS Malwa at Suez on 27 December 1916. Joined the Rarotongan Company 7 April 1917. Detached to 97th Heavy Battery Royal Artillery from 11 October 1917 to 9 November 1917. Returned to New Zealand from Egypt on SS Wiltshire departing 26 December 1918 and discharged 20 March 1919.
