Enlisted at Rarotonga 1 July 1918. Disembarked at Suez 27 December 1918. Significant time spent in hospitals due to sickness. Served in the New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde Training Regiment and Base Depot.
Sick on SS Malta during the return voyage to New Zealand and was off-loaded for medical treatment and quarantine at Fremantle, Western Australia in January 1919. Returned to New Zealand via Melbourne and Sydney and discharged 9 July 1919.
When our team revisited Mangaia in April 2023 to film the CITV documentary series ”Finding our way back . . . to Mangaia”, we were pleased to see that the gravesite and headstone had been fully refurbished and beautified since our previous visit in October 2018.
Could be the brother of Private Tuakanaiti TUIKAA 60741 (same father in death records).
