Enlisted 1 July 1916. Disembarked from SS Malwa at Suez 27 December 1916 and posted to New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde. Training Regiment and Base Depot. Posted to the Rarotongan Company 7 April 1917. Admitted to 66th Clearing Casualty Station on 19 August 1917, then 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara 21 August 1917 and then to 27th General Hospital Abbassia 23 August 1917. Returned to the Rarotongan Company 4 September 1917. On 11 October 1918 he was admitted to 76th Casualty Clearing Station and was evacuated to 27th General Hospital, Abbassia on 20 October 1918 before being transferred to the Aotea Convalescent Home between 10 October to 24 October 1918. Returned via SS Malta and arrived in New Zealand 29 January 1919. Discharged 20 March 1919.
Cook Islands Roll of Honour board at RSA Nikao Rarotonga records name as 'T. PARUA'.
Listed on the Atiu cenotaph as 'TEAPAI PARUA'.
