Enlisted in Rarotonga 1 July 1916 and disembarked from SS Malwa at Suez 27 December 1916. Admitted to 26th Stationary Hospital from 2 January 1917 to 10 January 1917 with diphtheria and posted to New Zealand Mounted Rifle Bde. Training Regiment and Base Depot. Detached to 97th Heavy Battery Royal Artillery from 11 October 1917 to 9 November 1917. Admitted to 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara 6 March 1918 to 12 March 1918. Transferred to the Rarotongan Company 2 April 1918. Admitted to hospital from 14 to 17 July 1918. Admitted to hospital with malaria 25 October 1918 to 2 November 1918. Embarked for New Zealand on SS Malta 14 December 1918 and discharged 20 March 1919.
