Additional information
Enlisted in New Zealand at the Avondale Camp on 10th November 1914 after arriving there on the 17th October 1914. Served with the New Zealand Native Contingent in Malta in May 1915, and served at Gallipoli attached to the Auckland Infantry Regiment in January 1916. He served in the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion as the company cook and was transferred to the Rarotongan Company in June 1916.
Discharged 7th March 1919 on medical grounds due to ruptured shoulder muscles as the result of falling from a cliff in Gallipoli, and after he contracted malaria in Palestine. Served for a total of 4 years and 142 days.
