Headstone/grave location
Our research leads us to believe that there are two military headstones for this soldier in Rarotonga. One is in the name of “Pte. T (Taataa) TAKAREU died 29/12/1956 aged 59 years” and is on the soldier’s grave in the Panama Catholic Cemetery. The other headstone is in the name of “Pte. T. TAATAA 29/12/1956 aged 57 years” and is located at the RSA in Rarotonga. We believe that both of these headstones were ordered and manufactured for this soldier.

Additional information
The 5th Rarotongan Contingent disembarked in Wellington 6 November 1918 and were discharged 13 November at Trentham Military Training Camp due to the signing of the Armistice on November 11 1918 that ended World War One.
