Enlisted 1 July 1916 in Rarotonga. Disembarked ex. Malwa 27 December 1916 and served with the Rarotongan Company in Jaffa. Embarked on SS Malta 14 December 1918 and discharged 20 March 1919.
Died 2 June 1925 in Atiu of tuberculosis. Other records state he died 3 June 1925.
Cook Islands Roll of Honour board at Nikao Rarotonga records his name as 'M. TAKATO'.
