Enlisted in Rarotonga 30 September 1915, disembarked at Suez 15 March 1916 and posted to the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion. Embarked for France 9 April 1916. Transferred to Rarotongan Company 14 January 1918 and embarked at Marseille 21 January 1918 to disembarked at Alexandria 4 February 1918. Posted to the Rarotongan Company 15 February 1918. Returned to New Zealand on SS Malta 14 December 1918. Discharged 20 March 1919.
Buried in an unmarked grave next door to the family residence of Tuamotu Matamaki, Takuvaine, Rarotonga.
