We have been advised that this soldier is buried next to the Nikao Cemetery opposite the Rarotonga Airport where the aviation fuel tanks are located. This information was given to us by Rimamaki Nooapii, also known as Mama Taungake from Ruatonga Avatiu.

Attested in Rarotonga 12 June 1918. Enlisted at Narrow Neck Military Training Camp Auckland New Zealand 10 July 1918. Discharged 7 December 1918 due to the signing of the Armistice that ended WWI.
The military headstone on the grave of Tauinekore KAUVAREVAI 84582 in Mangaia incorrectly records the service number and name of Tutai TUAKANAKORE 84534. Our research leads us to believe that this soldier’s headstone has been incorrectly placed on the grave of Tuainekore KAUVAREVAI 84582 in Mangaia.
